Watches returned,
owners satisfied
Wira has been receiving watches from clients across Penang for over fifteen years. We let the experiences of those clients speak for the workshop.

My father's Seiko 5 had not run properly in years. I was not sure it was worth servicing given its age, but Wira assessed it honestly and said the movement was sound — just in need of a proper clean and lubrication. It has kept good time since. The written report was a nice touch I did not expect.

I came in for a battery change on a quartz watch I wear daily. They noticed the caseback gasket was cracked and replaced it at the same time. That kind of attention is exactly why I prefer a specialist to a general repair shop. Took four days and the price was as discussed upfront.

Brought in a mechanical watch I received from my uncle. The workshop told me clearly what they found, what they recommended, and what it would cost before any work started. That alone set them apart from the other two places I had tried. The watch is running well now.

The leather strap on my everyday watch had started to crack. Wira had a good selection to choose from — I picked something that suited the watch much better than the original. They fitted it during the visit. Very straightforward and the staff were patient in helping me choose.

I had a bracelet that needed two links removed. Small job, I know, but they took care over it — checked the folding clasp at the same time and pointed out the spring was wearing. Not charged for that observation, just told about it. Good shop.

A vintage hand-wound movement I have owned for twenty years needed a full service. Wira were honest that it would take time to source one replacement part. They called when it arrived, completed the work, and the written report detailed everything. Well worth the trip to Lebuh Pantai.

A closer look at three service visits
An automatic dress watch, around thirty years old, had stopped running. The owner had not had it serviced since purchasing it secondhand a decade earlier and was uncertain whether it was worth the expense.
Full mechanical service — disassembly, ultrasonic clean, inspection of the main spring and balance wheel, replacement of two worn keyless works components, fresh lubrication, and regulation across five positions.
The watch was returned running within +/- 8 seconds per day. The owner received a written report and noted, at a follow-up visit three months later, that it had maintained that rate consistently.
"I was ready to put it in a drawer. I am glad I brought it here first."
A quartz watch used for daily wear had received a battery replacement at another workshop three months prior. It was again showing erratic timekeeping. The client suspected the battery had been incorrectly fitted.
Assessment revealed the incorrect battery type had been fitted — the voltage specification did not match the calibre. The correct cell was sourced and installed, contact cleaned, and a full quartz service completed including caseback gasket replacement.
Timekeeping returned to normal. Wira noted the correct battery specification in the service record for future reference. The client reported no further issues at the time of writing.
A client wished to re-strap a sports watch with a leather strap for smarter occasions. The original lug width was uncommon and they were unsure what was available locally.
The available selection was reviewed in the workshop. A dark brown leather strap of the correct width was chosen. New spring bars were fitted at the same time; the originals showed wear. Completed during a single visit of around forty minutes.
The watch left the workshop with a new strap and fresh spring bars. The client returned two weeks later with a second watch for a quartz service.
